What is CSA?
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a collaborative model that connects consumers directly with local farmers, fostering a supportive relationship and promoting sustainable farming practices.
In this arrangement, individuals or families purchase a share of the farm’s harvest at the beginning of the growing season, providing the farmer with the necessary funds to cover initial costs. In return, shareholders receive a regular supply of fresh, seasonal produce directly from the farm.
This not only ensures a vibrant, diverse diet but also encourages a sense of community, as members are more engaged with where their food comes from and how it’s grown.
Why choose Common Acre?
Flavour comes first
We grow for taste, choosing the most delicious, seasonal varieties and harvesting fresh, on the day you get your box.
Zero Waste
We only grow what’s been ordered. Then we only pick your veggies to order, virtually eliminating produce wastage. Your veggies are delivered in reusable crates, and any packaging we use is compostable.
Grown with organic principles
We don’t grow our veggies with pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilisers. Just compost, good soil, and time.
Powered by renewables
Our coolroom and wash/pack shed facility runs on solar as part of our commitment to low-impact food production.
Low water use
We use drip irrigation to target exactly where crops are growing, reducing water use and runoff.
Local in every way
We’re based in Aldinga, using local inputs, creating local jobs, and growing food for our immediate community meaning our produce has ultra-low food miles.
Not-for-profit
Every dollar goes back into the farm to improve what we grow, how we grow it, and who we grow it for.
Hands-on-learning
From volunteering in the garden to learning how to grow your own, we create space for practical skills and community connection.
Building local food security
CSA members make it possible for small-scale, local food systems to thrive. If things get tough, good food and growing expertise is close to home.
FAQs
-
Our weekly veggie boxes are managed through Ooooby. Head to our sign-up page to choose your subscription and payment plan — everything is handled securely through their platform.
-
Ooooby (Out Of Our Own Back Yards) is the platform we use to manage our CSA subscriptions. When you sign up for a veggie box, you’ll create an Ooooby account where you can manage your subscription, see what’s in your box each week, and add any extras when they’re available.
It’s a simple, secure way for us to stay organised, so we can spend more time in the field and less on admin.
-
Each box includes a seasonal mix of produce freshly harvested from Common Acre. You’ll receive a list of what’s in your box via Ooooby each week, along with tips, recipes, and news from the farm.
-
We don’t currently offer skips or pauses, as we plan our season to what’s ordered ahead of time. You can gift your box to a friend or neighbour if you’re away.
-
Not at this stage. Our model is based on what’s growing well each week — but you can add extras and top-ups via your Ooooby account when available.

No, but we grow to organic principles: no synthetic fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides or fungicides are used in our veggie beds.
Unfortunately, organic certification is a costly process and is prohibitively expensive for our small not-for-profit.
